Dear Parents: Earth Day is coming up, and in art class, we will be making art with recyclable materials! Please send us your unwanted egg cartons, cardboard toilet paper or paper towel rolls and old CDs. We will be collecting these materials from Monday, April 4th, through Thursday, April 8th. You can send the materials with your child or bring them to the Elementary Art Room (in front of the Elementary Principal's office). Thank you in advance for your help!

Estimados Padres: Estamos prontos a la celebracion del Dia de la Tierra, y en la clase de arte estaremos haciendo proyectos con materiales reciclados! Por favor ayudenos mandando cartones de huevos, rollos de papel higienico o papel toalla vacios, y CDs viejos. Estaremos recolectando estos materiales del lunes, 4 de abril, al jueves, 8 de abril. Puede mandar los materiales con suhijo/hija o pasarlos dejando al aula de arte (frente a la oficina de Mrs. Elcenora Martinez). Agradezco de antemano su ayuda!

ATTENTION STUDENTS WHO EAT FROM THE CAFETERIA!!!

Did you know that you use 180 styrofoam plates that get thrown into the trash each school year when you buy your lunch from the cafeteria?

Think about how much garbage that is with ALL the students combined! OUR POOR EARTH!

The Elementary Environmental Club plans to kick off a campaign this week where we encourage students to bring tupperware to the cafeteria. Dona Betty has agreed to serve students their food in their tupperware containers to avoid using styrofoam products. Each time you avoid using a styrofam plate, you will receive a ticket on recycled paper. Trade in 5 of these tickets for a special prize from Ms. Willett's 4A classroom!

Prizes will be continuously changing but to celebrate our beautiful Earth, we're starting with DELICIOUS Earth-shaped cookies donated by "Cookie Fashion Hn"

Bring your tupperware containers this week to school!

100th Day of School on Monday, Jan. 24

We have been working hard in 3C and are excited about our 100th Day of School! It will be on Monday, Jan. 24. Each child may come to school on that day with a t-shirt that has 100 things on it. We are also going to be doing many fun activities that day.

One of the activities will be a snack. I'm asking each student to bring in 100 small pieces of food in a Ziploc bag to add to our snack bowl. It can be 100 pieces of any type of cereal, pretzels, candy, chocolate chips, any type of chips, popcorn, raisins, etc. Whatever you have around the house or your child's favorite snack is fine. Thanks for your help!

Elementary Musical Auditions for: Disney on Broadway!

Audition Dates:
Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 1st and 2nd grade: 2:45-4:00pm
Thursday, January 13, 2011 - 3rd grade: 2:45-4:00pm
Friday, January 14, 2011 – 4th and 5th grade: 2:45-4:00pm

Auditions will take place in the Multipurpose room.

Each student MUST complete an audition form and bring it with them to the audition (forms attached to the info package sent out to parents).

Students who do not attend the audition on their assigned date will NOT be permitted to participate in the musical.

Dear Parents: Your children have worked very hard on their bowls for the Empty Bowls event this year, and I think you will be pleased with the results! If you would like to reserve your child's bowl (so that no one else buys it) you will be allowed to do so by sending L.150 to me or Ms. Gomez, the art assistant, by this friday, December 3rd. You will be able to take the bowl home on or after December 9th.

We hope to see you at the Empty Bowls event on December 9th, at 4pm!

Estimados Padres: Nuestros alumnos han trabajado mucho haciendo sus tazones para el evento de Empty Bowls, y creo que estarán complacidos con los resultados! Si usted quisiera reservar el tazón de su hijo/a (para que nadie mas lo compre) puede hacerlo mandando L.150 a mi o a Ms. Gomez, mi asistente, a mas tardar este viernes, 3 de diciembre. El tazón siempre se exhibirá durante el evento y luego se lo podrá llevar a la casa.

This week we are collecting Lps. 20 from each student to help our eagle mascot get a makeover. Please have your child bring in the money sometime this week.
Also, we will be doing a fruit experiment on Thursday. Please check your child's assignment book so you know which fruit they signed up to bring. They may also bring in a fruit of their choice for our fruit salad we will eat together. Do not cut the fruit. Just send it in whole and we will cut it here at school.
